Walk down any shop aisle and you'll find dozens of toothbrushes. The good news: you don't need an expensive one. You need the right bristles, the right size and the right habits.
Choose soft bristles
Hard bristles don't clean better — they wear away enamel and push gums back over time. A soft brush, used gently, removes plaque just as well and is kinder to your gums.
Pick a small head
A smaller head reaches the back teeth and the inner surfaces more easily. For children, use a child-sized brush made for their age.
Manual or electric?
- A manual brush works perfectly well if you brush gently for two full minutes
- Electric brushes can help people with limited hand movement, braces, or those who tend to rush
- Whichever you use, technique matters more than the brush itself
